Santiago Montiel

Santi is an Alpharetta High School graduate (‘18) where he was a three-year letterman. He helped lead his team his senior year to the 6AAAAAA final four state playoffs. Santi won the Gold Glove, Silver Slugger, and MVP awards while at Alpharetta. He holds the season and career record for home runs, with 12 HRs senior year. He is also in the top 5 in career hits, runs, RBI’s, doubles, triples, and more.

Santi then went on to play D1 baseball at the University of South Alabama (‘18-‘22) where he started at Shortstop every single game (186) since his freshman year. He helped lead his team his junior year to the Regional Final in the Gainesville Regional beating out the University of Florida and the University of Miami. The South Alabama Jaguars were 3 wins away from reaching the College World Series in Omaha, NE in 2021. 

Santi played in 99.6% of South Alabama’s innings in 4 years – 1,618 2/3 out of 1,625 2/3 – only missing 7 innings total. Santi had a career batting average of .289 with 194 career hits. He had 44 doubles, 3 triples, 24 home runs, and 104 RBI’s. His junior year, Santi fielded a team best .976 while only making 5 errors in 210 total chances, while also turning 24 double plays.
